A Thoughtful Letter to Ontario School Boards:
Raising Concerns About Social Transition Policies in Schools
CPAL is sharing the following letter from an Ontario parent, who has taken the time to write to every Director of Education across the province. The letter raises respectful, evidence-based concerns about school policies that permit children to socially transition at school—changing names, pronouns, or gender markers—without clinical oversight or parental involvement.
The letter references the recent Cass Review from the United Kingdom, an extensive independent investigation into gender identity services for youth, and echoes concerns raised by Dr. Kenneth Zucker, a respected Canadian clinical psychologist. It also highlights current Ontario school board guidelines—like those from TVDSB—that permit social transition without parental consent, regardless of the child’s age.
To offer further background, the author encloses a 2024 open letter from the Foundation Against Intolerance and Racism (FAIR) addressed to Premier Ford and then-Minister Jill Dunlop. That letter outlines legal and ethical concerns around compelled speech, parental rights, and gender ideology in public schools—concerns shared by many parents across the province.
This parent is not offering advice, but simply opening the door to informed dialogue. The goal is to ensure that school policies reflect the full range of available evidence.
We encourage readers to take the time to read this letter, share it with their school board trustees, and engage in constructive conversation. You can view the full letter in image format below.

Let’s work together toward respectful, transparent, and evidence-informed school policies that serve all children and families.
Tremendous work! I am grateful for such discerning and loving parents 🙏
